EARLIER 2009 NEWS ON SUCKER PUNCH - Moulin Rouge, Amanda Seyfried, Emma Stone and Rachel Woods

On his earlier interviews on 2009, Zach Snyder has been quoted to say that what inspired him to create a film like Sucker Punch are movies like Moulin Rouge that is both classic and timeless.
Okay! So this would explain why the movie would have singing and dancing!

Amanda Seyfried

Last March 2009, Entertainment Weekly reports that Amanda Seyfried was in negotiations to play the lead role, Baby Doll however as the news unfolds, she had commitments with HBO for the series Big Love. Filming of the series' fourth season would coincide with the scheduled production of Sucker Punch and HBO wont let her go just yet.

Rachel Woods

Also, originally, Rachel Woods was offered the role Amber (now played by Jamie Chung) but she turned it down to play the role of Sophie-Anne, the vampire Queen of Louisiana, in yet another HBO production, True Blood.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone was also in the original cast but again turned it down to play the leading role in the high school comedy movie, "Easy A." The role she was supposed to play in Sucker Punch, Rocket is now played by Jena Malone.

Last Friday, January 22nd of 2010 the last shooting day for Sucker  Punch was concluded at the Vancouver shooting grounds.

The Plot

The story revolves around the adventures of a girl in at Lennox House, an insane asylum. With the wicked antagonist being her step dad who had arranged her confinement although she might not be mentally deranged at all, the entire story is set inside the mental institution. There's nothing much to contemplate on the story as it is expected that the production has invested more on the effects and graphics and kept the story simple.

Set in the 1950s, a young girl, Baby Doll, is confined in a mental asylum. She meets 4 girl friends Amber, Sweet Pea, Blondie, and Rocket there they builds their tough girl circle.

While inside the asylum Baby Doll retreats into a fantasy world and with the help of her friends she aims to steal five objects in order to escape and while doing so also avoid to be deflowered by a lascivious man (haha! very funny!).

About the movie.

What I first thought of Zack's concept.

Way back March 5 2007 Zack Snyder has announced plans to shoot an intriguing action fantasy that he describes as 'Alice in Wonderland' with machine guns.

Okay. Got it!

Sucker punch  is a movie of tough chicks in cute costumes adventure, action, and insanity. Judging from this alone this movie is going to be a blockbuster.

The film is directed by Zack Snyder who also co-wrote the story with Steve Shibuya.

The budget is claimed to have amounted to $85 Million scheduled for release on March 25, 2011.

The final product is a display of anime and video game like imagery.
